Youth and Family Services of Washington Co. Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Youth and Family Services  turns 50! Serving our community since 1976, Youth & Family Services, Inc. provides shelter, counseling, prevention, and family support programs guided by their mission: To Serve and Strengthen Youth & Families — creating safety, stability, and hope.
 
Appearing on CAR TALK with Brad Doenges of Doenges Toyota,  Katie Wilson and Scott Carmichael from Youth and Family Services of Washington County said this is a big year for Youth and Family Services, the 50th anniversary. 
 
Katie announced a big celebration for the 50th anniverary, " On June 27th, we are going to have a 5K and a one mile fun run. And it's going to be a glow run. It's actually going to be in the evening time. We're going to light people up and have fun running. It starts at eight o'clock p.m. at Unity Square. And the one mile will start just 30 minutes after that." 
 
She added,"It will be from seven to 11pm at Unity Square. We're going to have a huge celebration in that space to just enjoy the fact that we've been here for 50 years and thank everybody and have the kids having some fun on some bouncy houses, have some entertainment for the adults and just food trucks, just all kinds of fun things."
 
Scott said, "We're really announcing the fact that we want to build a brand new shelter. We've saved some money, but we need to raise probably about equal as much as we've saved. Katie added, "We need to raise that kind of money so we can start. We have the land. The land where the shelter is right now has plenty that we can build in the backside of it, but we really want a specialized place that we can meet their needs,and have the facilities that make them able to survive and thrive in this environment we have."
